Fervent Events is sad to announce that Friday 13th April 2018 will be our last day working with Metro Newspaper, bringing to an end an enjoyable client relationship. Over the last 2.5 years, Fervent has distributed over 10 million newspapers at TTC stations across Toronto. Unfortunately, street promoters will not be needed moving forward.
If you have ever been a commuter within Toronto, then you have likely passed by one of the many Metro hand promoters with the green pinnies. Over the last 2.5 years we have had the pleasure of becoming part of the community at each location, and we thank Metro for the opportunity to be a part of such a great marketing program.
“Calum, Abby, David and the rest of the team at Fervent have been servicing Metro Toronto for the past few years. With a team of up to 72 hand promoters, they have helped Metro reach its audience goals and financial target. We recommend them for their promptness, courtesy, willingness to act and react and accuracy in reporting. We are pleased to be associated with this fine group of professionals. We look forward to working with the team on other custom events and our extended staff requirements.” – Terry Willows, Circulation Manager, Toronto Star
Back in 2015, Metro Toronto was unable to distribute newspapers inside the TTC anymore. As a result of this Metro decided to employ brand ambassadors to stand at subway stations and distribute newspapers. After 8-weeks, Metro was unhappy with the agency they hired and commissioned Fervent Events and another agency to take over in October 2015 and split the business 60/40 in Fervent Events favour. Within 6 weeks Fervent took the assigned locations and increased distribution by 25%. Due to the success of the distribution, Fervent Events was allocated 100% of the business on March 2017, distributing 100,000 newspapers weekly to commuters. Fervent starting with 10 hand promoters as a test, and ending with all 72 promoters is a credit to our service and professionalism. Winning more business on performance based results is always special.
TorStar acquired 24 hours newspaper and are now able to return back inside TTC stations. To the great people that have worked with Metro, we thank you for your hard work. Fervent constantly hears from regular commuters giving praise to the friendliness of the hand promoters and they are a prime example of excellence in staff. Here is an example of an email we received just today, forwarded on from Metro Toronto.
I just wanted to sing the praises of the woman who distributes the Metro paper outside Wellesley Station. She’s so bright and positive every morning regardless of weather or the apathy she gets from a lot of commuters. You can tell she makes the city a better place when you see people light up upon hearing her voice. Her smile’s contagious and she goes out of her way to compliment people. Please let her know she’s appreciated.
Fervent will continue working with TorStar in other capacities and wish Metro the best of luck in future endeavors.
