It’s that time of year again, folks!
As the decade slowly wraps up (bye 2010s! Hello 2020!) and everything winds down for a few weeks, shoppers are flooding malls eager to check off the final things on their holiday gift lists.
This time of year can also be very stressful. Finishing up work commitments, school projects, and planning holiday events that involve coordinating family, friends, and coworkers can be a lot.
That’s why holiday-themed experiential marketing campaigns can be a great way to break the monotony of hours-long shopping and targeted advertising.
This is true for any holiday or time of the year – Christmas, the holy month of Ramadan, Valentine’s Day, Diwali, Halloween, Easter, Hanukkah, and even seasonal markings like the solstice.
Here are some ideas and examples for great experiential marketing holiday activations!
1. Chocolate Giveaway & Fun Game
In 2017, Fervent Events was asked by the marketing department of a major downtown Toronto corporate office to coordinate and staff a Valentine’s Day activity for its employees in the lobby of their office building.
The Fervent Team sent five brand ambassadors to give out heart-shaped chocolates and invited people passing by to play a game of life size tic-tac-toe or pose with an assortment of colourful balloons!
A small team of brand ambassadors along with props and small treats are a great and relatively budget-friendly way to do an experiential marketing campaign. Read more about Fervent Events’ staffing services here.

2. Second City Street Team
Ahead of the Christmas season ‘17, teams of brand ambassadors were sent out in Toronto to give out Second City comedy club discount coupons for group tickets. Second City was putting on its holiday show, and the brand ambassadors were outfitted with santa hats, red and white scarves to get into the spirit and attract passersby.
We got a lot of positive feedback for this street team campaign. Brand ambassadors got the attention of the public and handed out hundreds of discount coupons at strategic locations in downtown Toronto.

3. Raptors NBA Win Parade Newspaper Distribution
While it’s not technically a holiday, the 2019 Toronto Raptors’ historic NBA win was definitely a time of celebration.
Fervent organized a street sampling activation sponsored by the Toronto Star and the Dairy Farmers of Canada ahead of Game 2 of the playoffs.
A team of 20+ brand ambassadors were stationed at two locations in the city: Yonge-Dundas Square and St. Lawrence Market. Fervent Events’ brand ambassadors were giving out cheer cards emblazoned with “Let’s Go Raptors!” and engaging passersby to raise spirits for the home team.
Fervent brand ambassadors were dispatched yet again to do a newspaper distribution during the parade. Fervent Events outfitted the team of high energy reps with official 2019 Raptors Playoffs shirts to draw in the crowds and get them pumped for the celebrations.
Promo reps were stationed at Nathan Phillips Square and Union Station handing out copies of the Metro News with the legendary post-win cover featuring Kawhi Leonard.
