Megabus.com, the first intercity, express bus line dedicated to bringing high-quality, low-cost travel to North America. Since its inception in 2006, Megabus has served more than 50 million customers, operating in many states throughout the US as well as major cities in Ontario & Quebec.

Street Team Campaign

Megabus wanted to engage with students, and encourage travel via Megabus over the holiday season. Fervent encouraged a call to action and Megabus offered 5000 x $5 discounts and 18 x $50 discounts to incentivize travel via coupon redemption.

To reach the biggest audience of students possible, Fervent Events organized and staffed guerrilla street teams across Toronto in and around university campuses.  Fervent Events staffed a dozen brand ambassadors to operate a prize wheel giveaway to students at Ryerson, U of T, and York University. Branded shirts were provided to promo reps, who enticed students to spin the wheel for a chance to win branded swag and a discount on their next Megabus trip.

Lead Generating

Fervent recommended a Spin to Win program for two days each at McGill University, York University and U of T. We decided to pay for a permit at York and set up a guerrilla activation at the other two schools to help manage costs.

Megabus also agreed to purchase some swag items so the wheel had $5 coupons, $50 coupons, Frisbees, Koozies and Power Bands to be won. The variety & value on the wheel encouraged lots of engagement.

The Results

  • 10,000 student engagements.
  • 7.39% coupon redemption rate:
    • 366 redemptions of $5 discount vouchers.
    • 5 redemptions of $50 discount vouchers.
